MV "Annette" transports monopiles for the Walney Offshore Project
Rostock / Barrow in Furness
From March 2010 to June 2010, SAL vessel MV "Annette" performed 11 consecutive voyages between Rostock and Barrow-in-Furness for the Walney Offshore Project Phase I. In the course of the project, the vessel transported 51 monopiles with a weight between 480 mtons and 550 mtons and dimensions of up to 55 m x 6 m. With a high speed of 20 knots, the vessel was able to perform the roundtrip between Germany and UK within 10 days and with that accommodated the time-sensitive schedule for its Danish client DONG energy.
During the years 2010 to 2011 the Walney (UK) Offshore Windfarms Ltd. plans to construct phase I and II of the Walney Offshore Windfarm, located approximately 15 km off Walney Island, Cumbria, in the Irish Sea in the UK. The project will be constructed in two phases. Each phase comprising 51 turbines with a total capacity of 367.2MW. The development includes foundations, turbines, export- and array cables, offshore substations and onshore connection to grid.
