Compliance with high client standards
In a recent complex maritime operation, JSI Alliance showcased their maritime expertise in the Nigerian oil and gas sector. The project involved the MV Trina, MV Calypso, and MV Hanna, which were tasked with the transport of significant cargo – 27 heavy reels integral to Chevron’s redevelopment efforts in Nigeria's shallow waters.
Each vessel played a crucial role, with MV Hanna and MV Trina transporting reels from Kalundborg, Denmark, and Velsen, Netherlands, to Onne, Nigeria. The MV Calypso served as a shuttle vessel from Onne to Warri, assisting in offloading to offshore vessels due to its superior lifting capabilities in shallow drafts.
The operation faced stringent requirements for loading, securing, and transporting the cargo, adhering to Chevron’s high standards. SAL Engineering (Manila) was instrumental in the engineering preparations and supervised the loading in Kalundborg, ensuring all technical and operational challenges were meticulously managed.
This project, engaging three vessels over a period of about 130 days each, was not only a testament to the effective project management by JSI Alliance but also highlighted the vital local support provided by Harren Nigeria. Their on-ground assistance in commercial, operational, and logistic aspects was pivotal for the seamless execution of this high-stakes project.
Through close client dialogue and robust local support, this operation exemplifies how targeted engineering solutions and effective project management can address complex logistical challenges in the oil and gas industry.
